A Typical Day of Learning and Discovery

9am
Morning class begins with an inspirational guest speaker or member of our exceptional faculty introducing an essential subject topic. Older students will attend lectures during this session, and our younger groups will engage in focused learning. The teaching approach incorporates a range of modern and effective teaching methods, and plenty of opportunities to try out new skills.

3pm
Wherever the student is attending a course, there will be plenty of choice of activities, or chances to enrich their academic experience through practical sessions or project work. Perhaps they’ll take a tour of a university college, discover famous filming locations, visit a museum, soak up some culture or take part in sports and leisure activities.

11am
The second lesson of the day aims to motivate students and help them explore key themes and issues, going deeper into the subject and encouraging creative thinking, debate and sharing of views.

6pm
Dinner at our summer schools is a time to catch up with new friends and faculty members in a different environment. Sometimes a relaxed and casual meal, other times a traditional formal dinner, it’s a time to share new knowledge and the fun experiences of the day.

12:30pm
Lunchtime! Students can enjoy a leisurely lunch with friends or take a walk around campus in the sunshine. Older students can venture out to explore cafés and unique eateries.  

7pm
Students in all locations enjoy evening activities on and o. campus, including quiz nights, debating challenges, silent discos and organised trips such as ice-skating and ten pin bowling. At the end of a packed day, it’s time to wind down and prepare for another exciting day.  

1:30pm
Back to the classroom for a practical workshop, or for some time to work on group projects. Students will get hands on in their field of study, from prepping for a mock trial, clinical skills workshops, all the way to researching for a new business proposal.

Courses for 13 to 15 Year Olds (Cambridge)

For 13 to 15-year-olds, the summer school offers a range of courses designed to provide a transformative experience of cultural exchange, academic enrichment, and personal growth. Here are the highlighted courses available:

  1. Explore Business Innovation & Entrepreneurship: This course immerses students in the world of business, finance, and marketing.   3. Designing Tomorrow: Engineering & Technology: Examine various engineering disciplines and future-shaping technologies. This course provides a broad foundation in engineering, inspiring students to tackle the grand challenges of the future.

Clare College
Founded in 1326, Clare College is the second oldest Cambridge college, with beautiful grounds on the Cam river. Archbishop Rowan Williams and naturalist Sir David Attenborough were educated at Clare.

St Catharine’s College
A medieval college with a famous open courtyard, ‘Catz’ has produced many actors such as Sir Ian McKellen, Rebecca Hall, Ben Miller and Richard Ayoade, as well as journalist Jeremy Paxman.

Wisdom and innovation course through Oxford’s veins; it’s the perfect place for young people to broaden their knowledge and  expand their horizons. 

Courses for 13 to 15 Year Olds (Oxford)

At the summer school for 13 to 15 year olds, bright young individuals embark on a remarkable transformative journey of cultural exchange, academic enrichment and personal growth. Often travelling abroad on their own for the first time, our youngest participants grow in confidence and establish their independence in an international environment. To maximise this unique opportunity for growth, they are supported all the way by our academic and pastoral staff. 

Explore Business, Innovation & Entrepreneurship:  Leap into the exciting world of business, finance and marketing. This course equips students with the skills to launch and manage  their own business, helping them to develop the mindset to become ground-breaking entrepreneurs. Students are immersed in  compelling case studies and engage with real business entrepreneurs who are taking new business ideas to success. 

Explore Medicine:  Expand your understanding of medicine through practical, hands-on medical simulations and a broad introduction to the basics of  human anatomy, physiology and psychology. Investigate the common practices of medicine and biomedical research, and explore the  critical competencies needed to become a successful doctor, nurse or psychologist. 

Explore Engineering & Technology:  Investigate the fields of Civil, Mechanical, Biomedical, and Aerospace engineering in a comprehensive introduction to engineering  and survey of emerging technical applications, from self-driving vehicles to space travel. Learn to think like an engineer and  strengthen critical thinking, problem solving and creativity skills. 

Racing Extinction: Climate, Politics & Global Leadership:  Preserve life on planet Earth by collaborating in small groups of delegates to generate solutions to some of the challenging issues  facing humanity. The course looks at climate change, water resources, food instability and wildlife conservation, and demonstrates  how the fields of climate science, politics, law and leadership can work together to beat extinction. 

Film Academy: Oxford Through The Lens:  Shoot, edit and screen a short film on location. With the University of Oxford — setting of scenes in the Harry Potter films – as your  backdrop, gain insights into film production and digital editing as you experience first-hand how to create a film. Working with film  industry professionals, you’ll also study screenwriting, location scouting and storyboarding. 

English as a Foreign Language:  Develop strong skills in English grammar, syntax, pronunciation and colloquial usage in speaking, listening, reading and writing.  The course aims to expand vocabulary and build a foundation to support superior English reading and writing skills for all  situations and uses.   

Courses for 16 to 18 Year Olds (Oxford)

Planning for a successful future becomes a top priority for students aged between 16 and 18. This crucial period marks a time when students contemplate which university they might choose and which field of study to pursue. Many of them are also looking further ahead to consider potential career paths. The summer schools offer an unparalleled opportunity for ambitious individuals to decide on the next steps toward a bright future.

Curing the Future: Medicine & Disease: Explore the fields of biology, genetics, neuroscience, genomics, emergency medicine and human anatomy. Investigate the common practices of medicine and biomedical research, and gain practical insight into a career as a surgeon, doctor, nurse or health professional.

Law & Politics: Examine the interconnection of law and politics, and take the first step towards a legal career. Focusing on emerging issues in these fields, the programme fosters discussion and debate through legal case studies on a broad range of issues ranging from human rights to globalisation.

Designing Tomorrow: Engineering & Technology: Investigate a range of engineering disciplines and the technologies that are shaping the future. Providing a broad foundation to engineering, and an overview of the intersection of engineering and technology, this course will inspire students to take on the future’s grand challenges.

Inventing the Future: Business, Innovation & Entrepreneurship: Sharpen creative thinking, business modelling, presentation and leadership skills by researching, designing and marketing new business ideas. This immersive programme will enable students to develop their entrepreneurial mindset into a successful business.

Architecture & Design: Bring your ideas to life as you apply the core principles of architecture, including planning, design and spatial mapping. Produce a range of architectural drawings and collaborate in teams to propose and present solutions for the urban city of 2050.

Racing Extinction: Climate, Politics & Global Leadership: Preserve life on planet Earth by collaborating in small groups to generate solutions to the challenging issues facing humanity. The course demonstrates how the fields of climate science, politics and law and leadership can work together to beat extinction.

Balliol College
Founded in 1263, Balliol claims to be the oldest Oxford college and boasts an impressive range of alumni, featuring 4 British Prime Ministers: Boris Johnson, Ted Heath, Harold Macmillan, and H. H. Asquith.

St Hugh’s College
St Hugh’s is a Victorian college founded to allow women to study at the university, and became co-educational in 1986. It has produced many influential women such as Emily Davison, Theresa May and Aung San Suu Kyi.

The Queen’s College
Queen’s is described as being “the grandest piece of classical architecture in Oxford”. Comedian Rowan Atkinson and Tim Berners-Lee, the inventor of the World Wide Web, studied here.

St Catherine’s College
Designed by auteur architect Arne Jacobsen in 1964, ‘St Catz’ is the youngest and largest of Oxford’s undergraduate colleges. Alumni include Benazir Bhutto,the former Prime Minister of Pakistan, and UK First Secretary of State Peter Mandelson.

How do I pay my course fees?

All enrolments require an enrolment fee to secure the booking. For Summer 2024, enrolment fees are structured as follows:

Summer Schools for ages 13-15 and 16-18 (Oxford & Cambridge) – £1295 GBP for each 2-week session. You may either pay the full programme fee when you book your place, or pay the enrolment fee and then settle the balance at a later date.

The balance clearance is required no later than 90 days before the start date of the programme. Where the student is booking less than 90 days before the start date, the programme fees must be covered in full. We appreciate that, with the uncertainty caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, people may require additional flexibility to these terms, and we are doing our best to accommodate that – please contact us if you have concerns regarding making the balance payment in line with the 90-day deadline.

Enrolments received via our online application form will require a debit or credit card payment of at least the enrolment fee. If you would like to pay your enrolment fee via Bank Transfer or another method, we are happy to facilitate this. Please contact our Admissions team to arrange this.

Balance payments for existing enrolments can be made via a number of methods, including domestic and international bank transfer, credit or debit card, as well as local payment options.
